This reminds me of "Gretchen am Spinnerade" by Schubert. The colors used and the setting fit the song well.

What a great illustration from one of the best stories! I love how tiny she looks in that great big room. And the scenery out the window...makes me wonder what's out there. :D

That story scared me so much! But I loved the grandmother! I love the use of light, it is a very striking image, really stark and beautiful!

Irene is the Princess in "The Princess and the Goblin." The namesake of the lady spinning. It's a great book! Go read it!
